“I took some pictures of my roughly 15-minute walk from my guest house to school. This is what I see every weekday at approximately 7:30 a.m.”

One of the things I like most about Bangkok is its sheer absurdity. The tourist locales have a warped amalgam of cheap replications of cultures from all over the world. But, for those willing to get away from Khao San or Sukhumvit, the city can surprise you with almost anything.
Still, as fond as I am of thriving on chaos, it is nice to have a peaceful moment every now and then. Ideally this might be in the morning as you are taking in the new day in a foreign land. However, my morning commute doesn’t quite accommodate that on either path I take.
The counterpart of another teacher and travel blogger, Alex of Exotic Winds and Spicy Freedom, seems to provide this. While his walk has the Thailand staples of 7-11 and soi dogs, it also has calm streets and tranquil temples. It’s well worth a look.
Inspired by his post, I’ll also be doing a similar chronicle of my own next week.
