Strangely, I didn’t actually recognize this photo until a friend pointed out to me how much she liked it. In my first few weeks in Bangkok, I has taken it simply passing by a canal. But she saw something more in it; a direct dichotomy
between the rich and poor of Bangkok.
On the left side, you see the greened and nicer apartment buildings. On the right, you see what amount to essential slums hanging over the water. While both of these situations in Bangkok will certainly have a path along the edge of the canal, the homes on the right will likely be seen fishing for their own nightly dinner from their walkway.
Make of it what you will, I suppose.
