When I first went to Boston, a city which still resounds as one of my favourites in the world, this plaza stood out as a one of the singular best memory images. The statue at the centre of Paul Revere is hardly a significant figure, but the place itself was engrained in me. And that Revere stature just happened to be in the middle of it.
When I returned in 2011, the plaza and in the middle of Boston’s North end was everything I remembered of it, minus the ”For Rent’ apartment above one of the corners. It remains one of the most inspirational places in my life for no reason I could ever place.
It is a wonderful area! The brick path down the left of the plaza (red stripe inside the white borders) marks the Freedom Trail, and the spire behind him is the Old North Church. There are marvelous old burial grounds and homes (including Revere’s) nearby. I love Boston – thanks for the memories!
