What essentially equates to my profile picture, my About Me picture, has always been tilted back since when this blog was Slightly Removed.  I’ve never cared to correct the error.  A slight bit of imperfection is always characteristic in the lifestyle necessary for a travel blogs like we do.

This picure was taken on a trip to Copper Harbor with my father.  There won’t be any more like it.  Lake Superior looms in the background, home to the spirits of sunken ore freighters, lost lumbermen, and the spiritual home of many of those I have lost in this region.

He had driven me to Copper Harbor in an attempt to spend time with me before I was gone for several months, my first summer working away on Mackinac island, a place I would end up far too many times.  Still, he and I went places we hadn’t been in over 15 years.  As close as it was and as many places we had been together, it seemed something new for us.

And his desire to show me everything, anything, that could ever be seen is something I will not forget and it will never die in me.  For us, Copper Harbor was a far off destination we had been to before but retained it remoteness and importance to us through time.  For me, Copper Harbor is only a beginning.  A place to move out from.  A place to see everything else outside of.  And maybe a place never to return to.

Nothing that notable to say yet. I’m a native Michigander with a passion for human culture and new places, and more than that, new experiences. I have degrees in writing and anthropology and have no idea what I want to do with them. For now, I’m content with an unbound lifestyle; going where I want and doing what I can, and hopefully gaining some interesting stories along the way.
