At the end of Thailand’s Death Railway, the plains carved out by the numerous rivers give way to the ranges of mountains which have historically stood as the barrier between Myanmar and Thailand.  I ended up here a few occasions, this time paralleling the railway with a motorcycle in search of an enigmatic mountain temple I had once seen in the distance.

And while there were no signs of it on this day, I settled into a hotel in the town of Nam Tok for $8.  A small ride toward the Kwae Noi River brought this abandoned housing development into view.  In the background the sun was just falling behind the mountains, giving me the chance for a good shot.

Enjoying a drink further down by the river as the sky turned into a deep purple, I soon called it a night and continued the seach the next day.

The final sunset on the river.

Nothing that notable to say yet. I’m a native Michigander with a passion for human culture and new places, and more than that, new experiences. I have degrees in writing and anthropology and have no idea what I want to do with them. For now, I’m content with an unbound lifestyle; going where I want and doing what I can, and hopefully gaining some interesting stories along the way.
