Strangely, I didn’t actually recognize this photo until a friend pointed out to me how much she liked it.  In my first few weeks in Bangkok, I has taken it simply passing by a canal.  But she saw something more in it; a direct dichotomy between the rich and poor of Bangkok.

On the left side, you see the greened and nicer apartment buildings.  On the right, you see what amount to essential slums hanging over the water.  While both of these situations in Bangkok will certainly have a path along the edge of the canal, the homes on the right will likely be seen fishing for their own nightly dinner from their walkway.

Make of it what you will, I suppose.

Nothing that notable to say yet. I’m a native Michigander with a passion for human culture and new places, and more than that, new experiences. I have degrees in writing and anthropology and have no idea what I want to do with them. For now, I’m content with an unbound lifestyle; going where I want and doing what I can, and hopefully gaining some interesting stories along the way.
